The Dangers Of EMF In Your Environment
The level of EMF (electromagnetic frequencies) in our environment is continuing to grow each year as technological advances move at lightning speed. Most recently we’ve begun to see the detriments of 5G towers and a sharp increase in symptoms of electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS).
How do you know if EMF is impacting your health? Here are some of the most common signs:
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Confusion
- Memory and concentration issues
- Insomnia
- Dizziness
- Heart palpitations
- Mood irregularities (increased anxiety and depression)
- Tinnitus
- Burning or tingling of the skin
And although these are some of the most common signs, EMF can impact every organ system in your body, so the list of symptoms that EMF exposure can produce is truly endless.
While in the past it typically took a fair amount of time for EMF-sensitivity symptoms to arise, with the rollout of 5G we’re seeing symptoms pop up in people sometimes within a few hours.
The unfortunate truth is that although EMF is clearly presenting a serious issue for our health and wellness, there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for tech advances that rely on increasing levels of EMF. Therefore, we need to start fighting the battle on our end – which means enhancing our resistance to EMF.
Read on for tools and techniques you can use to enhance your body’s natural EMF-protecting capacity.
6 Top Ways To Increase Your EMF Resilience
#1. Nutrient-Density
The number one issue with EMF radiation is its impact on your body on a cellular level. Specifically, it can increase oxidative stress, which has downstream effects that can cause damage throughout your body.
The good news is that our bodies are equipped with tailor-made antioxidants to fight oxidative stress and keep reactive oxygen species in their place – that is, as long as we have sufficient nutrients. And that’s where the bad news comes in.
Due to poor soil quality and a heavily processed food supply, many of us walk around with nutrient and antioxidant deficiencies. Even slight deficiencies in certain nutrients could throw off your antioxidant defenses, which is likely one of the reasons we’re seeing so many people reacting to EMFs these days.
For example, as a nation, we are woefully deficient in magnesium, which is a crucial mineral for electrolyte balance, muscle and nerve function, energy production, protein synthesis, the synthesis of DNA, and much more[1].
Mineral balance is crucial for warding off the negative effects of EMFs, with some research showing that mineral-rich foods and supplements can help shield our cells and tissues from potential EMF damage[2].
Other studies show that EMFs may negatively impact the levels of trace minerals in our bodies, which could result in toxic effects[3]. When your body is under stress, you use up crucial mineral reserves.
Therefore, consuming a diet rich in whole, real foods is crucial for maintaining your EMF defenses. Does this mean you can’t have an ice cream now and then? Of course not. But the more you focus on nutrient density in your diet, the better off you’ll be regarding EMF resiliency.
#2. Maximize Oxygen and Hydrogen
Along those same lines, ensuring that you’re hydrated is essential. Your cells need adequate water to detox and carry out all their vital functions. When we’re dehydrated, we not only throw off our mineral balance, but our cells become thirsty and less able to manage their workload. Our mitochondria become handicapped in producing the energy we need. Furthermore, the levels of water and electrolytes in our bodies can directly impact the conductivity of EMFs and how our bodies react to EMF exposure[4].
Keeping your body hydrated means more than just drinking adequate water, but also ensuring that you’re getting enough essential minerals and electrolytes in your water. At the same time, you’ll want to ensure that your water is free from contaminants like heavy metals, radioactive nucleotides, pesticides, and other common contaminants.
For this, I always recommend drinking spring water, using a high-quality water filter and adding in structuring elements and minerals to all drinking water. I also regularly drink Watt-ahh water for its super hydrating and grounding properties. Watt-ahh is rich in electrons which help your body defend against oxidative stress and inflammation – the type of damage that EMF causes. It’s also structured in a way that optimizes hydrogen and oxygen delivery, creating an ideal beverage for grounding, hydrating, and protecting against the effects of EMF.
#3. Reduce EMF Exposure In Your Home
Of course, it goes without saying that one of the best ways to reduce the amount of stress that EMF has on your body is mitigating EMF exposure in your home. While reducing the level of EMFs in your home may not directly enhance your resilience, it will lighten the load and allow your body to deal with the EMF onslaught it receives outside of the home.
So, what are some tricks to reducing EMF home exposure?
There are some low-hanging fruit options, like switching out your CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs for lower EMF options, like incandescent bulbs.
Another simple tip is to remove all electronics from your bedroom and turn your cell phone off at night (or at least put it on airplane mode). This will reduce your EMF exposure while you sleep, which is about one-third of your life – definitely worth the effort.
You can also opt to turn your WiFi off at night or get a Christmas light plug-in that turns your WiFi off and back on at specific times, so you don’t even have to remember to do it yourself. These items cost around $10, a small financial investment for a significant EMF reduction.
If you want to take it up a notch, one of the most powerful ways to reduce the EMF in your home is to forgo WiFi altogether. Yes, that would mean plugging your computer into an ethernet cord. Although it may seem like a bit of a hassle, if you have a long enough cord, you can still be pretty mobile in your home.
And for those who are fully committed, you can make your bedroom virtually EMF-free by painting your walls with EMF-blocking paint. While this is becoming a more popular option, it could set you back several thousands of dollars. For that reason, I really only recommend this option if you experience high levels of sensitivity to EMF or if you have a fair amount of cash to invest in EMF shielding.
I highly recommend a faraday cage while you sleep to completely give your body a break from EMF so it can rest and regenerate and prevent EMF from interfering in your brain waves, which affects sleep quality. These are fairly inexpensive and one of the most effective things you can do to combat the health effects of EMF.
#4. Grounding
One of the most simple ways to reduce the amount of EMF radiation streaming through grounding your body. Due to the earth’s natural frequency (called Schumann’s resonance), when you step on the ground (sand, grass, dirt, etc.) with your bare feet, it stabilizes the electrical charge in your body, bringing you back to homeostasis. It gives you more of a negative charge, whereby EMF works against this.
Grounding, also known as earthing, has been studied for its positive effects on sleep, pain, stress, blood flow, energy, and more[5].
In addition to natural grounding (walking barefoot on the earth), you can also find grounding mats and other devices that are available to assist you in grounding. These can be especially helpful if you live in an urban area and don’t have access to a yard, beach, or other outdoor space.
If possible, try to find a time to ground for at least five minutes a day, especially on days where you’ve been working in front of a computer or in a high-EMF environment. Long is always better, but even five minutes can make a difference.
You can ground your body via the earth, with grounding and PEMF mats and with a revolutionary water called Watt-ahh. This water is filled with electrons that ground the body and give it a negative charge.
#5. Heat and Cold Exposure
Both heat and cold exposure create something called a hormetic response in your body. In simple terms, hormesis, or a hormetic response, happens when we put enough stress on our body to actually increase our defenses. It’s a “that which does not kill you makes you stronger” phenomenon.
As you expose your body to extreme temperatures, it forces them to acclimate. Over time, this builds a body more resilient to all kinds of stress, including oxidative stress[6][7].
Examples of hot and cold exposure include taking an ice bath, cold plunge, or sauna.
#6. EMF-Neutralizing Wearables
Several different wearables on the market today can help neutralize and mitigate the effects of EMFs on the body. Generally speaking, these wearables contain specific elements and electromagnetic signatures that help reduce the EMFs’ overall impact, supporting your natural resilience.
My favorite EMF-mitigation wearable is the Harmoni Pendant. Unlike many wearables on the market, the Harmoni Pendant has research backing its ability to reduce the stressful effects of EMF, dramatically improving your resiliency in the face of EMF. In fact, research shows that wearing the Harmoni Pendant can reduce some of the stressful effects of EMF by up to 48%[8].
And beyond EMF stress mitigation, the Harmoni Pendant has also been shown to enhance several other aspects of health*, including:
- Improving heart rate variability or HRV (a marker for stress) by 700% on average
- Increasing energy reserves and mitochondrial power by 530%
- Lowering biological age by 2 years
- Enhancing the body’s autonomic regulation by 310%
Takeaway
EMFs remain a silent threat in our environment, and it may be a while before we start seeing real changes in the levels of EMF radiation we’re exposed to, if ever. EMF exposure is only increasing.
Not enough people even know about the harmful effects of EMF and what it’s doing to their body. You’re essentially bathing in radiation all day and all night long.
In fact, I have many colleagues that won’t treat a new patient until they’ve done EMF mitigation in their homes and environments. They want to eliminate the EMF to see if that is causing their health issues and then treat what symptoms are remaining. THAT’s how much EMF is impacting people’s health.
Unfortunately, EMF research can’t keep up with the continuous rollout of technology, which means we’re the guinea pigs. Luckily, there are tactics we can lean on to reduce our exposure and enhance our body’s resilience to EMFs.
Enhancing your innate EMF-mitigation capacity includes many things you would do to enhance overall health and increase your EMF resilience. Clean eating, drinking plenty of water, stressing your body just enough, and getting adequate antioxidants are all excellent strategies for shoring up your body against EMFs.
One of my favorite ways to increase my resilience to EMFs is wearing the Harmoni Pendant. This simple wearable EMF device gives me peace of mind when I’m out and about and need protection. It goes everywhere you go, protecting your body and reducing the symptoms caused by EMF like fatigue and poor sleep.
