10 Safe Tips to Quickly Increase Your Energy

Are you tired all the time? Can’t seem to shake the feeling you should have more energy? You need a few proven strategies like these top 10 ways to boost energy. Put down that energy shot! Do you wish you had more energy? You aren’t the only one. From Starbucks and 5 Hour Energy to Red Bull, the world spends billions of dollars every year for that little bit of extra energy to get us through the day. The problem is, we tend to rely on things which provide at best, only a temporary boost and drain our energy bank account.

Sometimes, all the coffee in the world couldn’t make us feel alert, and other times we feel alert for a few hours only to end up right back where we started. Ditch the caffeine—okay, maybe not—and give these 10 quick, easy energy boosters a go.

#1 Max out Melatonin

The blue light that emanates from the electronic devices we’re all so attached to slows the production of melatonin, which is the fastest route to losing sleep. Experts recommend tuning out from the TV and iPhone at least two hours before we hit the sack, but that usually doesn’t happen. Wearing orange or amber-tinted glasses while you use electronics before bed allows you to block out blue light and get a better night’s rest.

#2 Mix Coconut Oil and Bee Pollen

When my energy starts to dip, I reach for a teaspoon of coconut oil sprinkled with bee pollen. Call it “Energy in a Spoon.” Bee pollen has many benefits and is packed with B vitamins and nutrients that increase your stamina and focus. Coconut oil is made up of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs), which your body and brain can quickly burn as energy. This gives me enough energy to sprint to the end of the day and enthusiastically tackle whatever is left on my to-do list.

#3 Take a Cold Shower

A one-minute cold shower is enough to counteract some of the effects of chronic fatigue. Taking a cold shower in the morning, and feeling cold water pour down over your body seems more horrifying than soothing. But it really works. The deep breathing in response to your body’s shock helps you keep warm, as it increases your overall oxygen intake. Your heart rate will also increase, releasing a rush of blood through your entire body. This gives you a natural dose of energy for the day.

#4 Get Some Vitamin B

Vitamin B in its various forms is essential for energy production. B vitamins are used up during stress. And I know you’re stressed! Even if you don’t feel stressed, internal stressors like metal and chemical toxicity and gut infections can drain our energy. Try a vitamin B complex supplement that contains all eight B vitamins to cover all the basics.

#5 Meditate

Meditation is a highly effective solution for increased energy. The good news is meditation neutralizes how you interact with stress, mentally and physically, with the net result being more energy. Meditation aids sleep. Meditation boosts melatonin, a naturally occurring compound so often reduced because of stress, it comes as no surprise that people are able to sleep more soundly, waking up feeling refreshed each morning, with all day lasting energy. Mediation really has too many energy boosting benefits to list.

#6 Get Some Fresh Air

Environmental cues play a huge role in regulating the body’s circadian rhythms and our sleep/wake cycle. Exposure to bright sunlight, especially in the early morning, helps you get better sleep at night, which nets you more energy.

#7 Take a Short Walk

Off a long pier. Even a 10-minute walk can help you overcome feelings of fatigue. Any kind of exercise helps to increase the number of energy-producing mitochondria in your cells and boosts brain chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, which are responsible for positive emotion and increased energy. Physical activity oxygenates blood cells, helping to refill your body’s fuel tank.

#8 Remineralize Your Body

Most people today are mineral deficient due to stress, bad diets and a nutrient deficient food supply. I had one client that had magnesium levels of 2 on his hair mineral analysis! He was very close to having a heart attack that could have cost him his life – just because he was missing one mineral!

You need minerals for your body to work – to make enzymes, promote cellular metabolism and conduct electricity – yet many overlook this simple strategy. When you don’t have adequate minerals, naturally your body cannot function optimally and you feel tired all the time. Every person I have put on a multi-mineral is amazed at how much energy they feel in the first week alone.

You cannot be healthy without adequate mineral levels. It has been estimated that many vital minerals are deficient in up to 90% of the population. Mineral levels are lower today due to hybridization of foods and modern industrial agricultural methods that do not return enough trace minerals to the soil.

To add insult to injury, the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides result in much lower levels of trace minerals in the food supply. Due to this modern reality, mineral deficiency is almost universal today, and becomes worse with age.

You must not only mineralize your body, but balance the minerals in your body. Most are supplementing minerals, but this is not enough. True health results when minerals are in balance. For instance, when calcium and magnesium are balanced, blood sugar issues and hypoglycemia are nonexistent. When sodium and magnesium are balanced, the adrenal glands are healthy.

Taking the wrong supplements can destroy your health and slow your metabolism. I see this EVERY DAY in my practice. What’s good for one person, may be toxic for another! There are many supplements that people take every day because mainstream medicine suggests this is a good idea.

A mineral that is abused by most women is calcium. We have been indoctrinated to take 1500mg a day to have healthy bones. All that calcium can end up being deposited in your tissues causing hard muscles, hardened arteries and slowing your metabolism if not taken with the correct nutrients and correct amounts. What women really need is magnesium, which tells calcium to deposit in the bones. Calcium is good for some, but certainly not for everyone.

Another common mineral in most supplements that can be potentially disastrous for your health is copper. After testing, I find a lot of clients have copper toxicity due to imbalances in the body and adrenal fatigue. Supplementing copper in a multivitamin every day is the absolute worst thing you can do if you’re copper toxic. Copper toxicity causes weight gain, pms, female reproductive issues like fibroids and endometriosis, infertility, headaches and too many health conditions to list.

I could list many other mistakes people are making that are causing them more harm than good, but you get the idea. You need to test, don’t guess. You don’t want to throw the kitchen sink at your body when it comes to supplements. Your body needs targeted nutrient therapy based upon your individual biochemistry. Without knowing your mineral levels, there’s NO way to know what to take!
