Copper dysregulation is the simultaneous issue of copper deficiency and copper toxicity. This is a little known issue in the medical field, but for those that do know about it, it’s confusing and there is a lot of controversy about how to correct the issue. We’re going to shed some light on this issue today.

    Okay so I took my zinc out of my regimine and put it back in at least three times during that podcast haha! Should I just continue taking it for now until I get the hair analysis done? I currently take 30mg/day. I’m a vegetarian and I have low progesterone. Im going to add in 2mg of copper just once a week until I get the analysis back because I also have low cortisol and, while I think I need some copper, I don’t want to hurt my adrenals either. This is so confusing but great to know!

    • If you’re a vegetarian you need to take zinc. there are very few sources of it in the vegetarian diet.

    This is fabulous, thank you Wendy and Morley for sharing your knowledge on this important subject. I have studied the Pyrrole problem with regard to zinc to copper ratios, along with MTHFR and methylation, so this really hit home!! You have added so much to my understanding in this short interview and I now realize that it might be time to revamp my long-term approach to a zinc-copper imbalance. I’m definitely going to do the hair mineral analysis to see if it’s time to tweak my zinc, biotin, B-6 (& P-5-P) regime since I’ve been doing it now for a couple months with great results, feel much better! It’s also been interesting that I do not supplement with calcium yet my bloodwork returns high while bone density levels are slowly diminishing, I believe I just may’ve found out why. Thanks for that valuable tidbit!!! As for bioidentical hormones, I jumped on that bandwagon years ago and quickly jumped off because I saw few results overall. I believe that the focus on mineral and metal balancing is crucial for each person to consider if they are interested in being healthy. We really are a wonderful creation, so complex. For this reason, I can’t accept that we don’t have a divine phenomenal Creator because chemistry, biology and physiology like this just doesn’t happen, it’s too orderly and too intricately dynamic to be random!!!!!     I think it’s good you brought up the MTHFR mutations and how copper dysregulation related to them. I have methylation issues and take methyfolate. I notice copper feels so similar to me when I take it. I’m an undermethylator and slow oxidizer, but I’ve noticed I do need copper! The right amount of methyfolate increases my circulation, makes me feel more grounded and focused, less brain fog etc. Too much makes me too reved up, irritable and crazy 🙂 I noticed copper does this for me too. When I take a little, my circulation is increased, less brain fog, more focus, more calm, grounded, but too much makes me feel like I am a crazy woman 🙂 No other mineral does this to me. I really do feel it affects the methylation cycle. I’m really glad you guys bringing more attention to copper dysregulation!!!!
